The installation work is combined with AR technology, audience can join the exhibition and interact with the work.

The independent art project "All Idolatry Is Illusory-Yu Xiangming's Paintings, Drama and Anthropological Research" will formally take place at Ying Art Center Shanghai from July to September. This art project is themed with All Idolatry Is Illusory, which is inspired from the cognominal oil painting created by Yu in 2012. The exhibition is centered on the image of Guan Yu, a historical figure. Artists question how worshiped idols control the wills of men with their divine aura, or it is the subjective choice driven by men's consciousness. This art project is estimated for approximately two months, and will represent the overall creation of artist's paintings, drama and on-site installation work focusing on his anthropological and sociological research.

 

During nearly two months of art creation, artists demonstrate the installation creation on the basis of anthropological and sociological theories, colorful paintings and the integrated creation of diversified and interactive new media technology in the works. As the closing ceremony on September 1 is approaching, the artist's personal art project will also embrace its climax.

 

 

On the evening of September 1, the artist will make well-known figures of Shanghai get together and invite Chen Zhichao, a famous stage play performer and other top performers in Shanghai to perform three-act play named All Idolatry Is Illusory. Relying on the unique structure of Ying Art Center Shanghai, this three-act stage play includes the performances at two floors on the ground and one floor underground. In particular, visitors will enter into an illusory bar space in the last act. Under the integration of the last act and After Party, all participants will enjoy the wine and delicacies in the coolest weekend night in Shanghai in early autumn while feeling themselves psychedelic in the realistic but illusory performance!
