Vocalist, composer and bandleader Annie Chen was born in Beijing and began studying piano at the Central Conservatory of Music from age four. Her passion for music led her to study privately with Nancy Marano (Manhattan School of Music), followed by graduate studies at Queens College, where she studied voice with Charenée Wade, jazz improvisation with Antonio Hart and David Berkman, and composition and arranging with Michael Philip Mossman.

 

 

Nathaniel Gao is a saxophonist and composer who has been based in Beijing since 2006. He has been a key contributor to the local jazz scene as both a co-leader of the quintet Red Hand as well as a leader of his own quartet and trio. Additionally, Gao has been active in an eclectic range of other musical projects including Three Sergeants Syndrome, The Beijing City Big Band, Afrokoko Roots and Bu Yiding. He has performed at the Ninegates Jazz Festival, the MIDI Jazz Festival, the Ditan Park Music Festival, and at major venues in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Gao graduated from UNI in 2006 with BA in music performance and in 2011 completed an MA in jazz performance at the City College of New York.

 

 

Marius is a Swiss and French guitarist. In 2009, he is accepted at both the Professional Jazz School of Geneva and the Geneva University, from which he will complete a double bachelor in Musicology and Computer Science for Humanities (2011). In 2014, he graduated from Queens College (New York City) with a master in Jazz Performance.
