Refer to Ludwig van Beethoven, in our epoch, there are many symbolic figures that flashed in our minds: forbidding, strong, and unruly... However, I do not know much about this flesh-and-blood youth born 250 years ago. Of course, his work does not exist to please the ears of the audience, so most people only remember his very few melodies, but in fact, behind each of his notes is full of love, absolute sincerity and unyielding will.

At a time when the epidemic is affecting the world, there are four young Chinese musicians who have traveled across the world. They picked up musical instruments originate from the glorious period of music represented by Beethoven’s works reproduce the sound and beauty of history, just to see a view of hero's back and glory closer.

Xiao He

With Europe study tour experience, cellist, Baroque cello player and Viola da Gamba player. He graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music (Bachelor) and then studied at the Zurich University of Arts (Master) in Switzerland. Mingqing Yu, Raphael Wallfisch and Martina Schucan were all of his schoolmasters and helped him a lot in his studies.

While living in Europe, Mr. He developed a keen interest in early Western music, and began to systematically study Baroque music and early instrument performance, and then he was admitted to the prestigious institution of early music—the Basel School of Music (School of Ancient Music) in Switzerland, hehad been a student of famous French cellist Christophe Coin, specializes in historical cello performance and Violian performance. He became the first Chinese cellist to study the highest qualification in Baroque cello performance in Europe.

Mr. He was the cello principal of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra in his early days. During his study life in Europe, XiaomingWang invited him to principal of the Zurich Opera House to join the Sino-Swiss Musician Chamber Orchestra; his soloist won the first prize in the Hong Kong International String Competition, second prize in the Jeju International Music Competition (South Korea).

Since 2019, he has served as the assistant professor of Professor Martina Schucan at the Zurich University of the Arts, and was invited to teach the history of string music for graduate students of the Orchestra Department at the Central Conservatory of Music.

Mengzi Zhang

With Europe study tour experience, young pianist, ancient keyboard instrument performer.

Mengzi Zhang studied with the famous Swiss ancient music master Michel Kiener. As one of the first Asian musicians dedicated to exploring the playing skills and aesthetics of keyboard instruments in various eras, he was recognized by European music academics and performance industry. He was fortunate to become the first Chinese student of Swiss ancient music master. Since 2008, he has been active in performances all over Europe. As a teacher, the young students under his guidance have won several first prizes in various competitions, and he has also guided the students to successfully enter the top European and American music universities. He was admitted to the Geneva Conservatory of Music in Switzerland in 2007, and graduated with the highest undergraduate score in 2010.

In 2013, going into the Geneva Ancient Music Research Center -- one of the few authoritative institutions in the ancient music industry, he had been student of the famous harpsichord player Pierre Goy and ancient music master Francis Biggi. In 2016, he graduated with the first prize and was invited by the Swiss Clavichord Association in the same year. As a guest artist, he held the first public harpsichord concert in Lausanne, which won unanimous praise from industry colleagues and luthiers. The musicians who have worked together include violinists Nicolas Penel, Flavio Losco, Ellie Nimeroski, and cellist Mathieu Rouquié.

Zeyang Men

With Germany study tour experience,conductor

Born in Beijing, learning the violin at the age of 3 and a half. In 1997, he entered the Beijing Jinfan Symphony Orchestra. In 2003, he was admitted to the Department of Music of Renmin University of China and began to study conducting. He had been student of Professor Xin Xu and Professor LifeiHuang, he entered the Spanish World Youth Symphony Orchestra in 2007 and returned to China in 2008 working for the Zongzheng Opera Group. In 2016, he went to Dresden and Leipzig Conservatory of Music to study conducting, had been student of Professor Christoph Sandmann and other famous conductors. At the same time, he began to learn and play the Baroque violin.

In 2017, he was invited byUlrich Windfuhr of Hamburg Conservatory to be the conductor of the International Music Festival in Ravira, Italy,and won high praise from the audience and peers. In 2019, he started to study chamber music with the Swiss ancient music master Michel Kiener, and then went to Switzerland to study performing methods of the past from the violin master Luc Breton. Zeyang Men is one of the few violinists with academic, conducting and performing in one.

Chen Shen

With Germany study tour experience

Born in Jiangsu,Nanjing,study with her tutor Li Ma. In 2010, she was admitted to the Würzburg State Conservatory of Music for flute performance with distinction and had been student of Ruth Wentorf, who the president of the German Flute Association. Then she studied modernist music performance from Mr. Stefan Albers, who the chief flute of the Man Franken Theater. During the school, she also studied chamber music and early childhood music education courses, and finally completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies with excellent results. In 2016, she began to study ancient flute playing from the famous Baroque ancient flute player Bernhard Böhm.

In 2017, she was admitted to the Würzburg State Conservatory of Music with full marks, and continued to study for a postgraduate degree in Baroque ancient flute, she has been student of ancient flute player Verena Fischer. Write regularly for the German flute magazine "Flöte aktuell". In 2014, she was invited to participate in Derry Boswil flute seminar and concert performance. In 2015, she was hired as a music lecturer at Waldorf College Hasford in Germany. In 2017, she was invited to perform at the Munich Flute Festival held by the German Flute Association. In 2018, she taught at the Municipal Conservatory of Music in Wiltheim, Germany. In 2019, she released her first ensemble CD "Suite en Duo" with harpist Anton Mangold.
