ABOUT
Choreographed by XIE Xin, produced and performed by Xiexin Dance Theatre (XDT), the brand new contemporary dance theatre work T.I.M.E explores the interplay between memories and the time. As time passes by, seemingly, it is not until halfway along the journey that we start to recognize that those memories are part of who we are… Looking back at the journey we traveled, we come to realize that deep inside our hearts, somewhere in our memories, there is always someone who we owe him/her a “sorry”. You thought you’ve let it go and have been living in peace with it, however, it is still there. Every tiny bit of those profound moments will flash back, just like the echo of time…
THE MEANING OF T.I.M.E
As its English name T.I.M.E implies, the 4 letters construct and unveil the emotional essence of this dance piece: T stands for Temperature and Teleportation; I for Inner self, Important (moments) and Imagination; M is about Memory and Mind while E refers to Energy and Emotional.
XIE Xin x WANG Yubo x CHEN Tian
A reunion of talented team
The contemporary dance T.I.M.E is made by a talented team of top artists. Let’s see who they are!
XIE Xin, as both choreographer and dancer, is the founder of XIE XIN Dance Theatre and the Judge of Modern dance of China Lotus Award, the final champion of Dance Smash II, as well as the co-artist of National Dance Theatre. Her pieces have been performed for many times on the stage of Shanghai International Dance Center Theater, such as Form In, Nonet.
Music Designer Sylvian WANG has donated himself in movie music since 2015 and composed or designed the music for many movies such as Wrath of Silence by XIN Yukun, Life Tells Lies by QI Yafei; he also composed for contemporary dance Entropy for its unique music pieces.
Special-invited dance CHEN Tian, as a new dancer for modern dance, is a technical dancer approved by the audiences, and the top 8 competitors in Dance Smash II. On the stage of Dance Smash, CHEN Tian and XIE Xin cooperated for the piece Not Here, which touched the audiences by full emotion and fluent body moves. It is worth to expect what kind of dance highlight moment in the reunion of the duet.
Cut the past and the answer is the connection between people
In XIE Xin’s pieces, the crash of body makes fantastic reactions. Looking back at her pieces, from Form In to Entropy, it is all from the origin point of people. It starts from ordinary life and catches the surprises and touching, forming the study of mind from outside to inside then back to outside. T.I.M.E is a piece facing the crossing of time, the bond of memory and the inner heart. Time passes in a same way to all but everyone spend time in different ways. The similarities and differences make the origins pointing to the encounter, broken, aging and secrets of people; different links bring unique life and memory to us.
On the stage, you may see the dancers’ “links” between each other by body moves. Their performance of “power” can make you feel an “invisible atmosphere” which comes from “body link technique”. They zoom in and out the “power” in details and moving their bodies to show a scene technically between illusion and reality.
