BEIDOU is the first work of Shanmian Theater with a proscenium stage. It is choreographed by Geng Zibo, the director of the acclaimed dance theater works MAD WORLD and SECRET WORLD, and is performed with prominent dancers from ZiBo Dance Theater.

BEIDOU constructs a mysterious universe that is both distant and close, with plain but profound body language. Inspired by the faith in the Big Dipper, one of the oldest constellations in Chinese astronomy, the story narrates the journey of a Polaris youth who, after a nightmare of falling through the Big Dipper, transcends reality and himself in a perilous quest to reclaim the Big Dipper.

He graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy with a master's degree and studied under Dong Jie. Member of Chinese Dancers Association. His choreography concept of combining traditional culture with modern and contemporary dance is well known to the public, which is the pioneer and leader of the new performance space of small dance theaters in China. He has won the 11th Korea Seoul International Dance Competition Award; the film starring in the French DADC Dance Film Festival has won the Jury Award; Bronze Award in the 30th International Choreography Competition in Hanover, Germany; Jiangsu Literature and Art Award and the 8th Dance Prize; Top director of "China Top Dancer Growth Plan" in 2023; World-Renowned Artist in the 15th International AidsTGala Exhibition in Regentsburg, Germany; 2017 Only China Dance Choreographer introduced on the Front Page of the central Bavarian Newspaper; China Good Dance Top Ten Dancers of Christina Team; Dragon TV' Dancer' Runner-up; he has participated in dance drama projects of National Art Foundation, China United Youth Art Creation Support, and China Art Foundation Special Foundation Support. Starring in the dance film, he participated in the Cyprus International Dance Video Art Festival, "Dancing with Movies" in Hollywood, France DADC Dance Film Festival, and the Old American Film Festival. His choreographed dance works were invited to Beijing Dance Biennale, Shanghai Dance Biennale, Hong Kong Bauhinia Cup and Yokohama Dance Festival.

Shanmian Theater
The "Shanmian Theater," founded in 2021, is a contemporary dance troupe established by the choreographer Geng Zibo, who serves as the artistic director. Shanmian Theater is a dance group that includes creation, performance, production, production, and operation. The Shanmian Theater has built China's first long-term residency dance theater, known as the "Shanmian Theater." Since 2021, they have constructed three theaters in Shanghai and premiered three dance productions: "Mad World," "Fantasy World," and "Secret World," with a cumulative total of over 800 performances. The company currently consists of four invited choreographers, seven full-time dancers, and collaborates with over 30 top domestic dancers on a long-term basis. Through their unique dance style and performance forms, they are driving the development of small-scale dance theaters in China. Moreover, their significance and value lie in their continuous growth and experimental exploration as independent private dance group. They integrate Chinese traditional culture with contemporary dance, presenting artistic works that possess a distinctive Chinese-style Eastern aesthetic.

In 2024, Shanmian Theater produced its first medium theater work "Beidou", which uses the traditional Chinese culture's "Beidou" as an image to connect the four seasons of life changes under the trajectory of time.On December 14th and 15th, their new work "Beidou" will be officially premiered. This body language showcase of infinite imagination is about to premiere, so stay tuned!
