Founded in 1929 as one of the first radio symphony orchestras in Germany, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony (hr-Sinfonieorchester) has successfully negotiated the delicate balancing act between preserving tradition and meeting the challenges of a modern top-ranking orchestra. Its artistic profile is defined by series of concerts with highly diverse programmes, in which symphonic performance meets music from an earlier time and projects aimed at younger audiences meet Modern music.
Music Director: Andrés Orozco-Estrada
Andrés Orozco-Estrada has been Music Director of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony (hr-Sinfonieorchester) since 2014. Since 2014 he is also Music Director of the Houston Symphony. In 2015 he was elected furthermore Principal Guest Conductor by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Starting with the 2021/22 season, he will take over the position of Music Director of the Vienna Symphony.

Gautier Capuçon is a true 21st-century ambassador for the cello. Performing each season with many of the world's foremost conductors and instrumentalists, he is also founder and leader of the Classe d'Excellence de Violoncelle at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris based in the stunning new Auditorium designed by Frank Gehry. He is acclaimed internationally for his deeply expressive musicianship and exuberant virtuosity, as well as for the glorious sonority of his 1701 Matteo Goffriller cello.
