Future Sound of Mzansi is a powerful and an insightful film about South African Electronic music. We learn how regionalism gave rise to genres such as gqom, shangaan electro, broken beats and kwaito. We also meet the film’s dynamic cast which includes Black Coffee, Okmalumkoolkat, NakedBoys and Culoe De Song, just to name a few.
The landscape of Future Sound of Mzansi contextualises how specific genres develop and influence certain South African regions and the unavoidable cross pollination between these styles.
This is part two of a fundraising drive campaign for ‘Vukazithathe’ Bhekisenzo Cele, a maskandi artist who is the filmmaker’s long time friend and mentor. In part one, Afro Film Society screened ‘Vukazithathe’ which is the filmmaker’s ode to Bheki.
Please support us in raising funds to help Bheki reach his target. The funds will be used for
- School fees for Vukazithathe's 2 children in school
- Food and clothing
- Renovating his broken house
