Gabber Modus Operandi was accidentally founded by DJ/producer Kasimyn and artist-fashion designer Ican Harem following their fad staging at an underground punk concert in Denpasar, Bali. After some DJ- and MC-ing, Kasimyn began producing tracks for the duo using the smallest musical instrument: the Mini Synth Teenage Engineering OP-1, while Ican Harem provides vocals and joke-filled improvisation about Indonesian bizzare contemporary culture. Their experimentation began with a healthy obsession for the energy and intensity of jathilan, gabber, dangdut koplo, ebeg dance, funkot, Chicago footwork, grindcore, noise music and especially estranged community party in the small cities in Indonesia. Their debut LP ‘PUXXXIMAXX’ released for digital-free-download on Yes No Wave Music, a Yogyakarta-based netlabel who also debuted Senyawa’s EP.
Gabber Modus Operandi has been presented in Nusasonic festival in Yogyakarta and followed up with their debut show in Europe in CTM Festival, Berlin 2019 and performed in Dark Mofo 2019.
Their second album, entitled HOXXXYA, will be released on Shanghai label SVBKVLT on August 16th

Chen Tianzhuo (b.1985) was born and currently lives in Beijing. After graduating from Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in London in 2009, he received his Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Chelsea College of Art and Design in 2010. Transcending the self and triggering frenzy are the incentives that seemingly motivate Chen Tianzhuo’s artwork. As a younger generation artist, Chen Tianzhuo skillfully works between the artistic disciplines of installation, performance, video, drawing on paper and photography. Many of his artworks require others’ participation or that of the audience taking the form of a “happening”, such as an underground party, staged performance, or more conceptually, a constructed ritual site, and, ultimately, transforming reality into fantasy. Within his artworks, Chen mixes his well versed knowledge of elements and symbols found in religion (like Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, and Shamanism, etc.), subculture (like cult cultures, drag and rave, etc.), popular culture (such as cartoons, hip hop and electronic music, etc.), and dance (like Japanese Butoh and Vogueing) in order to juxtapose the atmosphere, and cause the audience/participants to transcend both superficial states of the body and spirit. Ultimately, arriving at, what the artist himself has referred to as a “state of madness”.
DJ Kasimyn, a Bali based DJ who combines his deep knowledge of various traditional Indonesian styles with his own takes on gabber and hardcore.
