Naam Fung Quartet is a newly established quartet from Shenzhen, the youngest metropolitan in China hence the quartet’s music motif, “Innovative and invigorating”. Founded by 4 active musicians from Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, the quartet is led by flutist Ma Yong instead of a violinist. Their debut concert had carefully chose music from the modernity era of France, and folky pieces from Spanish composer De Falla. ”Naam Fung” means ”the gental wind from the south” in ancient Chinese, so is the motif of the concert program.
