Let's go… to the Hanging Monastery!!!

You heard right, we are heading to a 1500 year old monastery hanging 50m above the ground on a majestic cliff... and, since we love making our trips even cooler, we are going to visit some massive Buddhist grottoes – a UNESCO World Heritage site. Then check out one of the most beautiful places in China, dotted with Tibetan monasteries, monks, and snow-capped mountains, check out one of China’s best preserved gates, and more!!!

We will be getting to stand in a monastery hanging 50 meters off the ground…

Dates: April 28 - May 1 (Over the May Holiday)

 

Day 1 – Saturday, April 28

16:00 - Catch our flight from Shanghai to Datong

18:45 - Airport pick up and transfer to our hotel

 

Day 2 - Sunday, April 29

07:00 -  Grab some breakfast

08:00 -  Hop on the bus and head out

09:00 - Check out the magnificent carved Buddhist statues of Yungang Grotto

11:30 - Local specialty lunch

12:30 -  Hop on the bus and head to the city center

13:00 -  Visit Huayan Monastery and an ancient city Wall

15:00 -  Back to our hotel

18:00 -  Local specialty dinner

19:00 -  Free time to chill or go for a drink

 

Day 3 – Monday, April 30

08:00 -  Western breakfast

09:00 -  Hop on the bus

10:00 -  Check out the old great wall and climb up the ancient gate

12:00 -  Local specialty lunch

13:00 -  Check out the breath-taking hanging monastery and go up to see the awesome views below

15:30 -  Hop on the bus and chill on the way to Wutaishan

18:30 -  Check in our hotel

19:00 -  Local specialty dinner

 

Day 4 – Tuesday, May 1

07:00 -  Western breakfast

08:00 -  Start our trek through monasteries and snow capped-mountains

11:30 -  Local specialty lunch

12:30 -  Continue our trek

14:00 -  Hop on the bus and chill on the way to the airport

19:00 -  Hop on our flight home
