On August 24, the International Culture Exchange and Innovation Center (ICEIC) together with MRD GROUP will hold "Healing through Art" event. We invite American artist Mrs. Kim Cudd to share how she became an artist, what art has meant for her, and healing through art.
Art is a way of grasping the world around us. It is a way of experiencing and making sense of the world. Taking many forms, art often expresses the inner thought life of the creator. It is an attempt to communicate intimate, personal concepts when words alone often fail.
Art is a conversation between the artist and the perceiver. The hope is to communicate beauty, beauty in the form of emotion. Therefore, this beauty may or may not be beautiful in the aesthetic sense of the word. It may elicit wonder, cynicism, anger, contentment, serenity, hope or despair. What the perceiver experiences is part of the conversation.
Art is a release. Even if it is never shared, the simple act of creating something is therapeutic, reinvigorating a childlike playfulness. It opens the mind to possibilities. Absolutely anything can be created. The only limit is imagination. Opening up the mind to the pursuit of creating something limitless is freeing. It is a chance to release feelings, clear our heads of daily stress, and provides a playground for our minds to go anywhere.
