John Owen-Jones is a record-breaking London West End and Broadway actor and singer. John is critically acclaimed and award-winning for his roles as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables and The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera. John is the youngest person in the history of London's West End to play Jean Valjean in Les Miserables (he also played the role twice on Broadway), and he has played the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera nearly 2,000 times, making him the actor with the most performances as The Phantom in the history of London's West End.
John is an accomplished concert performer and has given many solo concerts in the UK and abroad. in May 2021, at the age of 50, John gave two sold-out solo performances at London's Cadogan Hall. He has also given concerts around the world at venues including London's Royal Albert Hall, Tokyo's Bunkamura Orchard Hall, Moscow's Bolshoi Theater and New York's Carnegie Hall. John has appeared in BBC Proms in the Park concerts, toured the UK with Katherine Jenkins and performed as a special guest with Michael Ball and Alfie Boe. He has played the title role in stage concert versions of The Hired Man, Sweeney Todd the Barber, Tiger Bay, and is reprising his role as Jean Valjean in the 2019 production of Les Misérables at the Gielgud Theatre, London, alternating with Alfie Boe.
John made his debut as one of the Three Phantoms in early 2020, and the show was a huge hit. During Epidemic Homecoming he performed several online concerts Leave A Light On, Magic At The Palladium and Zedel with Rachael Tucker. In 2021, John performed two online charity songs with the Music Theatre of Wales Orchestra and the West End Orchestra of Wales to show his support for musicians. John contributed vocals to The Show Must Go On at The Palace Theatre to support the entertainment industry through the epidemic.
John has performed extensively in London's West End and in theaters throughout the UK, such as Tod the Barber with Bryn Terfel and Emma Thompson at the English National Opera, Showboat at the Royal Albert Hall, and A Little Night Music with Dame Judi Dench at the National Theatre. John has also appeared on various TV shows such as Pointless, Songs of Praise, The Royal Variety Show and BBC Radio 2's Friday Night is Music Night. Most recently, John performed in the new musical The Great British Bake Off - The Musical.
John has released and produced six solo albums. The Hallelujah EP (2006), John Owen Jones (2009), Under The Mask (2011), Rise (2015), Bring Him Home (2017), Spotlight (2019) and The Christmas Album (2021)
