Performance Introduction
On the evening of December 3, Professor Li Xiuying of the Department of Vocal Music at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music will join forces with pianist Li Weijie and teacher Feng Jiayin, as well as concert guest baritone singer Zhou Zhengzhong and master's degree student Zhao Zidong, to present a concert of outstanding Chinese and foreign vocal works. In recent years, Prof. Li Xiuying, while researching and interpreting western operas and art songs, has devoted herself to the singing and promotion of Chinese art songs, sang many Chinese art songs, original Chinese operas and symphonic vocal works, and recorded and published albums of Chinese vocal works such as Waiting Gladly and Lover Sent Me Sunflowers, etc. She has continued to explore the performance and teaching of Chinese vocal works, teaching, learning and researching at the same time. research. Prof. Li Xiuying said that singing Chinese vocal works well is the original heart of our singers, and telling a good Chinese story is our mission. In the first half of this year, Li Xiuying and Li Weijie collaborated on an album of Chinese art songs called "Ask", which featured soprano vocal works by several famous composers from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Coinciding with the 90th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Wang Jianzhong of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, this concert is dedicated to the memory of this famous composer by selecting and singing five of his songs written for the poems of Li Qingzhao. Chinese art songs have a history of over 100 years. This concert will share with you the artists' deep interpretations of their works, and at the same time pay high tribute to the artists who have contributed to the development of Chinese art songs!
