Xiaoyu, Big Mouth, Yindoudou and Bookworm, four children of different personalities, drop into a magical and closed treasure box at summer camp.
They can’t get out of the magical box unless they collect the red, yellow and blue gems together. In order to find the three gems, they walk through an ancient cave where there is a mountain ghost trying to tricking people into going astray, through the future ocean full of perils and the deep, vast starry sky.
Amicable, frank and trustful of one another, they overcome their weaknesses such as timidity, vanity and suspiciousness, seeking out the three gems and embarking on a brighter path to growth with joy...
Presenter: Puppet Theatre Company of Jiangsu Province & Yangzhou Puppet Research Institute
Founded in 1957, the Puppet Theatre Company of Yangzhou has inherited the longstanding, magnificent and miraculous tradition of the Chinese puppetry art, making a name for itself at home and abroad in an artistic performance style featuring “high rigidity and flexibility, delicateness and lifelikeness”.
Since its establishment, the troupe has produced and staged many large-scale puppet shows, including Jade Flower Fairy, Snow White, Calabash Brothers, The Nutcracker and Chang E flying to the Moon, and dozens of small or medium-scale shows including those adapted from Chinese and foreign masterpieces, such as The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Fox and the Tiger, Petty Official and The New Three Battles with the White Bone Demon, as well as songs, dances and acrobatics such as Wish You Good Luck, Long Silk Dance, Face Changing and Fire Spitting and Playing with Buddha Beads.
The troupe has also organized the Golden Lion Award-winning Play Gala and the first national “Training Class for Puppet Making”. It is China’s largest professional puppetry art troupe known for producing and staging plays, designing and making puppets and training puppeteers.
