The trio Mateus Gavinda has been working together since 2014, mainly performing original compositions by Mateus Gavinda. The music is inspired by a variety of musical genres, including jazz from the 1960s, European music from the 20th century and contemporary music. The words that best characterize the band's music are fresh, mature, sensual, fun and dark. In 2016, the band recorded their debut album, Overnight Tales, which was well received by audiences and critics alike. The album was also nominated for the 2017 Frederick Award in the Jazz Music category, Record of the Year. In 2018, the band released their second album, Falstart.
