Mozart Piano Quartet
One of the world’s leading chamber ensembles, the Mozart Piano Quartet was founded in 2000 and comprises Paul Rivinius, Mark Gothoni, Hartmut Rohde, and Peter Hoerr, all internationally acclaimed and prize winning soloists.
The quartet performs at major venues and festivals in Europe, the United States and the Far East, including the Mahler Festival, Lincoln Center, Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Wigmore Hall, Melbourne Festival and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
Viola: Hartmut Rohde
Hartmut Rohde is one of the leading and most sought-after European violists, renowned for his stylistic versatility and rhetorical perceptiveness. He is especially interested in bringing a historically informed approach to his interpretations of the classical, romantic and contemporary repertories. Among Rohde’s regular chamber music partners are Janine Jansen, Jörg Widmann, Christian Tetzlaff, Kolja Blacher, Paul Meyer, Lars Vogt and David Geringas. He holds a professorship at the University of the Arts Berlin, and is founding member of the renowned Mozart Piano Quartet which undertakes extensive worldwide tours..
Piano: Paul Rivinius
Paul Rivinius enjoys an international career as soloist, duo recitalist and chamber musician.
Paul Rivinius was, for many years, professor of chamber music at the Universität der Künste Berlin and at the Musikhochschule “Hanns Eisler” Berlin.
Violin: Mark Gothoni
Finnish violinist Mark Gothoni began his musical training aged six at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, and subsequently became a pupil of Ana Chumachenco in Munich. He received further guidance from Shmuel Ashkenasi in Chicago, and Sándor Végh in Salzburg.
Cello: Peter Hoerr
Cellist and Conductor Peter Hoerr is regarded as one of the most versatile and sought-after German artists of his generation. An early interest in ancient music led him to seminal studies with Heinrich Schiff and Christophe Coin at the Basel Music Academy, and he has striven ever since to bring a new, historically informed approach to his interpretation of the classical orchestral repertoire.
