ACT Shanghai Contemporary Theatre Festival (ACT Shanghai) is an annual international festival for performing arts, held in Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre and other partner venues since 2005. It focuses on presenting new and cutting-edge works of theatre, dance and performances from all over the world. In almost two decades, ACT Shanghai has cultivated a young, curious audience unique to Shanghai and become an important connecting platform for local and international artists with the Chinese audience.

To the animal sphere, the uncivilised, the wild, is traced Cassandra’s talent as prophetess. From the response of the “unheard young woman” comes the title of this performance-cry, a shamanic rite in which the stereotypical feminine fragility and her fiery spirit of vengeance merge. After the journey to the underworld, she returns to the surface transformed and nourished by the serpentine larvae of the earth, the light feathers gone, she emerges head down ready to continue.

Motus was born in 1991 as an independent nomadic theatre company, in constant movement between countries, historical moments and disciplines. The founders Enrico Casagrande and Daniela Nicolò, animated by the necessity to deal with themes, conflicts and wounds of the present time, blend art and civic engagement crossing imageries that have reactivated the visions of some amongst the most controversial “poets” of contemporaneity.It has experienced and created hyper-contemporary theatre trends.
