Philippe Entremont is one of the world's most famous pianists and one of the most recorded artists in history. Born in Reims in France, he debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York at the age of 18 playing the piano concertos of Jolivet and Liszt. Throughout his career, he has played and recorded with many legendary conductors including Leonard Bernstein, Eugene Ormandy, Seiji Ozawa, Pierre Boulez and Léopold Stokowski, among others.
Additionally, he has pursued a career as a conductor and previously held the posts of Music Director of the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra, the Denver Symphony Orchestra, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra where he has been given the title of Lifetime Laureate Conductor. In 2015, in conjunction with the École Normale de Musique in Paris, he created the ENSM Chamber Orchestra. Philippe Entremont has served on the juries of the greatest piano competitions in the world including the ARD Music Competition, the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and the Leeds International Piano Competition.
More recently he was appointed President of the Jury of the 2018 Enescu International Piano Competition in Bucharest. He has been honored with many prestigious awards including Commander of the French Legion of Honor, Commander of the French Ordre of Arts et Lettres, Commander of the French Ordre du Mérite and the Great Cross of Austrian Order of Merit. In 2018 Philippe Entremont gave concerts in China, Europe and the USA.
