To help people connect, Lifeline Shanghai, launched R U OK?, an Australian suicide prevention program, to raise community awareness in China.
 
Through R U OK? Day, and everyday, we aim to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with people around them and support anyone struggling with life.
 
Join us on R U OK? Day to learn, experience and discover how to live your best life through attending informative workshops, workouts and forums from leading Shanghai practitioners.

Kristy is an American living in Shanghai with her family. As a child, she was an elite gymnast and has continued making fitness a part of her life, even as a working professional and busy parent of three active kids. Throughout her three years in China, she has taken the opportunity to focus on her fitness and compete in CrossFit Competitions in China. Kristy is currently a youth gymnastic coach and a Cross Fit Level One Trainer and is preparing for the upcoming Asia Crossfit Championships. Kristy is also proudly a TRIBE Nutrition Ambassador.

Participants in our workshop will learn how and when to ask someone they are concerned about “Are you ok?” and then develop confidence and skills in what to say and do next. This highly interactive workshop is suitable for senior school students, teachers, managers and anyone who values being able to support someone they are concerned about.

We ask that a maximum of 2 people from any one school, company or community group attend this workshop, to ensure it is open to all!

Child and family focused clinical psychologist Dr. Nate Balfanz of American Medical Center (AMC) will be hosting a teenager-driven group discussion on what it's like growing up in the Shanghai international community.  Dr. Nate will begin with a brief overview of how teens learn to find their place in the world, the unique challenges that Shanghai-based teens may encounter, followed by a group discussion amongst attendees which emphasizes the sharing of experiences.  This talk will take place in the "Teen Zone" and is recommended for children ages 12-18.
