Commemorating the 40th anniversary of Reform and Opening-up, the Shanghai Ballet has created the original ballet Bright Red Star. It is the inheritance and admiration of the spirit of the Chinese Communist revolution.
The story is told from the perspective of the grown-up Red Army soldier, PAN Dongzi, who goes through all kinds of tribulations during war time, intertwined with vivid memories from his childhood. His experiences have strengthened his beliefs in dedicating himself to the life-long fighting against the enemies, to save and protect countless mothers and their homes...
Presenter: Shanghai Ballet
The Shanghai Ballet was formally renamed in 1979 at the base of The White-haired Girl performing team. The White-haired Girl, which has been staged nearly 2000 performances, won the Gold Medal of the Best Classical Dance Works of the 20th Century in China, which helped establish the Shanghai Ballet's predominant position in ballet circle in China.
Since its founding, many young dancers of the company have won total of 27 medals in various international dance competitions, and they also achieved good results in nationwide competitions. The Shanghai Ballet is active in cooperation and cultural exchange with the artists and companies both abroad and at home.
