Shanghai is a city of intellectual wisdom with an abundance of elegance to be explored. The tradition and the novelty both fit into its streets, brimming with youthful energy.
The outer Structure of Shanghai Odyssey-the Bund is a symmetrical architecture of 5 Chapters that holds the entire work together and gives it its strength and form. In opposite the inner Structure is an organic flow of harmonic complexity driven by forceful rhythmical patterns. The outer strength faces inner variety.
With the involvement of artists for China and Germany, this piece concentrates on the unique legend of the Bund to be told from an international perspective where Chinese music is incorporated to make the movement of the day. Reaching a new dimension of cross-collaboration in Chinese music, the work, commissioned by the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, pays tribute to completion of the public green alongside the Huangpu River embankments.
