Presented by the well-known Japanese children's theatre company Hikosen, this adaptation of a myth from Arabian Nights features gorgeous settings, vivid costumes, and agile performances to tell the legend of Sinbad the voyager! Have you ever seen a giant sea monster emerging from the monstrous waves? Have you seen a giant devil with sorcerer's powers? What is behind the black shadow-like mystery hidden in the mysterious island caves? Sinbad's sea adventure is embarking. You and your kids are invited to experience and explore a dream world of mystery. Centered on the three themes: First Adventure, Precious Friendship and Realize A Dream, the play encourages kids to wonder what on earth is the most important thing and feel the true essence of life.

 

 

Performance: Theatre Company Hikosen

Founded in 1966, the theatre company Hikosen gives performances that differ from traditional puppetry. It has about 180 members and performed in more than 20 countries around the world. The company holds an annual record of over 500 performances of three repertoires throughout Japan and has performed in Taiwan successfully. In all performances of Hikosen's repertoire, the performers trained in ballet and gymnastics strictly, are masked and dressed as the characters in the ancient folk tales. The exquisite masks, fancy costumes, fabulous props and stage settings create spectacular visual effects and a dream-like atmosphere. It is a combination of singing and dancing, which creates the truth, kindness and beauty in the fairy tales.
