tobi lou is a Nigeria-born hip-hop artist, singer-songwriter, and producer. Born in Lagos and raised in Chicago, he played 2 years of semi-pro baseball before being released due to injury. His hit single, Buff Baby was certified Gold by The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in July 2020 and was directly followed by the release of his standout EP, Lingo Starr. His three-song EP along was accompanied by a music video which cohesively weaves together the songs featured in the new release. The stunning visuals and impassioned lyrics address the long overdue introspection surrounding racism in America. Shot in over ten locations throughout Los Angeles, the surroundings themselves play a character in this ocular masterpiece. tobi lou’s unswerving creativity and matchless composition garnered him the #2 spot on Billboard magazine’s “Top Chicago Emerging R&B/Hip-Hop Artists of 2021.”

After moving to Los Angeles in 2014 to pursue his music and creativity, he wrote and produced songs for other artists, while moonlighting as an Uber driver. In June 2017, he dropped his first track and music video, Game Ova, which engaged a massive audience of fans who connected with tobi lou’s vibrancy, unique artistry, and creativity. The self-produced video was directed by music visionary Joshua “Glassface” Goldenberg and has since garnered over 2.7 million views on YouTube to date.

Continuing to write and create, tobi lou followed his instantaneous success with three critically-acclaimed EP’s in 2018—tobi lou and the Moon, tobi lou and the Loop, and tobi lou and the Juice. That same year, tobi lou began touring as part of Los Angeles-based rapper, Kyle’s “Lightspeed” nationwide tour.

In 2019, he released his debut album, Live on Ice. Following his stream of success, tobi lou sold out a nationwide tour, and has played notable music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, and various other festivals around the United States. This next album Parrish Blue is scheduled to debut in early 2021.

Last year, tobi lou continued to drop standout singles such as 2hrs, Student Loans, Pretty Much, OKAY, Endorphins, Skin Care Tutorial 2020, Hot Tub Time Machine, Hot Tub DREAM Machine, Neither Here Nor There, and was featured alongside Chance The Rapper on Peter CottonTale’s Pray For Real.

Lingo Starr consists of 3 tracks, Return of the Dragon, Strikes Back, and Drunken Master. The first song to completion was Strikes Back from producer Poolsuite. tobi lou took the guitar sample from that track and flipped it into Drunken Master and producer Maximilian followed suit and transformed elements of Strikes Back into Return of The Dragon. This resulted in three unique tracks that take you on a kaleidoscopic journey through tobi lou’s carefully crafted world.
