In this concert, Wang Xiaoming will bring a list of important violin collections to Shanghai audience. The first half will be the famous Beethoven’s ninth violin sonata "Kreutzer". Chinese translator Fu Lei once commented this work: "The first and third movements of ‘Kreutzer’ are just like a melee fight between the piano and the violin... This is a duel, a duel between two musical instruments, a duel between two thoughts.」 The explosive power is a concentrated expression of the brilliant tone and playing skills of the violin. It is expected that he and Professor Huang Yameng from Central Conservatory of Music will have a unique "duel".
The works in the second half are classical pieces formed in a more organic and diversified way. The two works by Stravinsky are from the Russia with a French tune. Tan Dun’s ‘Hero’ Violin Sonata is also well-known in China and the United States. "La Traviata" is a French story written by Italian Verdi. With Wang Xiaoming's international background, the beauty of cultural fusion can be glimpsed in these works.
