Wiener Walzer Ensemble consists of members of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, the Vienna Volksoper, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra as well as famous soloists and chamber musicians from Austria and Germany. It was founded by Professor Lui Chan, concertmaster of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, one of Austria‘s three major symphony orchestras, were he acts as its artistic director.
The concert repertoire of Lui Chan’s - Wiener Walzer Ensemble ranges from classical, romantic to modern pop music. Invitations to concerts from all over the world have taken the ensemble to famous music festivals in many countries of Europe, America and Asia over the past twenty years. For example: the Serenade Concerts in Linz, the Upper Austrian Stiftskozerte and the Schärding Music Festival. Participation in the Music Festival Carinthian Summer Villach, Lui Chan’s 1st Klassik in Engerwitzdorf, Memminger Master Concerts in Germany, Lucerne Music Festival Switzerland, Music at Einsiedeln Monastery in Switzerland, Concerts of the Györ Philharmonic Orchestra in Hungary, Sundaymatinees at Brucknerhaus Linz and many others.
Since 2002 Lui Chan’s - Wiener Walzer Ensemble has been organizing its own concert series with New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Concerts, in which Professor Lui Chan, as conductor and master violinist, performs classic Johann Strauss waltzes and other compositions. The musicians are highly praised and loved by European and American audiences, by now the concerts have been held for 20 years. During this time Lui Chan’s - Wiener Walzer Ensemble performed numerous unique concerts together with many world-famous musicians. The ensemble collaborates with musicians and composers such as Michael Martin Kofler, Milan Turkovic, Roland Batik, Maki Namekawa, Daniela Barcellona, Regine Kofler, Johannes Wildner, Howard Griffiths, Johi Hattori, Alessandro Vitiello, Christian Schulz, Franz Xaver Frenzel and others.
Due to his outstanding musical commitment and artistic achievements, Lui Chan was awarded the official title of “Professor” by the Federal President of the Austrian Government. Professor Lui Chan has been performing at concert events in Europe for more than 30 years. As a violin soloist, conductor and presenter at the same time, Lui Chan is referred by the European and American audiences as “China‘s Johann Strauss”.
