February 11-16: Let's go... trekking through the heart of Yunnan!

 

This trek is an unforgettable adventure into the heart of Yunnan. Check out awesome scenery and traditional minority cultures. Tiger Leaping Gorge, to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Haba Mountain, this is a hiking trip for those who seek magnificent landscapes and awesome views!! We’ll also hop on a ferry ride through Jinsha River, pass through the traditional Naxi village of Wumu, hike through a stone town, and more!!!

 

 

Dates: February 11-16

 

Day 1 – Sunday, February 11

17:10 - 21:25 – Hop on our flight to Lijiang

21:25 - Arrive in Lijiang, and transfer to the ancient town of Shuhe, a part of UNESCO’s World Heritage Site in Lijiang

22:30 - Check into the hotel

• Spend the night at Metropark Hotel Lijiang or similar standard of accommodation

 

Day 2 – Monday, February 12

• Check out after breakfast, and transfer to the Tiger Leaping Gorge (+/- 3.5 hrs), and have lunch. Afternoon hike down to the Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge (2-3 hrs); Transfer to your hotel for check in; Free evening to rest and relax.
• Overnight at Halfway Guesthouse or similar standard of accommodation

 

Day 3 – Tuesday, February 13

• Check out after breakfast; Morning hike on the Upper Trail (3-4 hrs); Lunch at Walnut Grove; Take the ferry across the Jinsha River from Walnut Grove, and transfer to Wumu (+/- 3 hrs); Check into the guesthouse in Wumu, and have a guided walk in the village with your guide.
• Overnight at Huahuase Lodge in Wumu or similar standard of accommodation

 

Day 4 – Wednesday, February 14

• Transfer from Wumu to the Stone Town (+/- 1.5 hrs) and explore the Stone Town on foot
• Take the ferry back to Wumu
• Overnight at Huahuase Lodge in Wumu or similar standard of accommodation

 

Day 5 – Thursday, February 15

• Morning hike around Wumu village; depart for Lijiang after breakfast; en-route stop at the Yulong Snow Mountain, go up to the Yak Meadows by cable car, and explore the Yak Meadows on foot; Free evening in Shuhe Old Town
• Overnight at Metropark Hotel Lijiang or similar standard of accommodation

 

Day 6 – Friday, February 16

• Morning check out after breakfast;
• Free time at your leisure. Brief orientation of Shuhe by your local guide and free time on your own.

13:00 - 14:00 Meet up and transfer to the airport; airport check in

15:40 - 19:15 Take our flight from Lijiang back to Shanghai

Accommodation:

Included - 5 nights - Clean double occupancy rooms are included in the price. These will be booked on a first come first served basis. If you wish to room alone, the single occupancy fee is an extra 960 RMB per person per night. Please note that single occupancy availability may be limited. (If needed, we can help you find someone to share. Pairings in this case are distributed in order of request submission. If there is an uneven number of travelers, the extra single occupancy fee may apply.)

Included – All meals as listed, water

Not Included – Other snacks or meals you may want.

Includes:

5-nights accommodation (double occupancy), onsite ground transportation, driver's allowance, all meals as listed, water, scouting and organizational costs, an English/Chinese speaking guide, a trip of a lifetime, and looots of fun!!!

 

Does not include:

Flights to and from Lijiang, drinks, insurance, other personal expenses.

 

What you need to bring:

PASSPORT/ID card, camera/gopro, hiking shoes, altitude pills, water bottle, mosquito repellent, energy snacks, sunscreen, toiletries, small daypack, sunglasses, and a change of clothes.

 

Note: If your passport is in the visa office for processing, please bring the slip of paper given to you by the authorities along with a photocopy of your passport with you on the trip. This paper can be used for domestic travel instead of a passport.

Insurance:

Please note that emergency medical insurance is required for this trip.  If you do not have emergency medical insurance/a policy that is valid in China please purchase a policy and send us the details.  If you need help purchasing insurance please add 60 RMB.

 

Cancellation & Disclaimer:

If the traveler decides to cancel, s/he can get refund of the deposit (a small cancellation fee may apply) within 7 days of booking and no refund after that. What is the trekking level for this trip?

We will be doing a moderate-strenuous trek. Beginners can do and have done this trek, but it will be challenging.

 

Is exercise recommended to prepare for the trip?

There will be some strenuous hiking areas in the Tiger Leaping Gorge, so it’s best to prepare with consistent exercise prior to the trip and wear proper hiking boots.

 

Should I bring altitude pills?

There may be some changes in altitude when we go through the snow mountain on day 5. You can prepare by taking altitude pills two days prior.
